Introduction
Phobos and Deimos are the only two moons of Mars and the first two extraterrestrial moons to be colonized by Humans. They currently serve as large mining outposts due to the abundance of Hydrogen, Ice, and Helium-3 on and underneath their surfaces.
History
Exploration
The first probes were sent to Phobos and Deimos specifically in the early 2000s, sending back much scientific data. Before this, the only data retrieved from the moons were from probes bound for Mars. One of these Moon-specific probes held a scanner that discovered a higher concentration of Hydrogen, Helium-3, and Ice than on Luna. After this discovery, the Swift missions, named for Jonathan Swift, the author of Gulliver's Travels, brought the first human explorers to Phobos and Deimos in the early 2030s. These missions confirmed the scans and experimented with the possibility of colonizing the moons.
Colonization
On October 28th, 2072, 344 years after the release of Gulliver's Travels, the UNSA and the Great Unifiers signed the Swift Accords, authorizing the Colonization and Mass-Mining of Phobos and Deimos. Within months, Interplanetary Cargo Freighters and Colony Ships from Terra, Luna, and Mars arrived at the moons and began a mass colonization effort.
Today, Phobos and Deimos, combined, are the capital of mining in the Solar System. The Hydrogen and Helium goes on to become rocket fuel in the Solar System's biggest fuel refinery in Martian orbit, while the Ice becomes water to be used all over the Solar System. With a combined population of almost 400,000, these Martian moons are amazing and worthy of a wiki page.
